Overview of Record Management

Record Management provides the organizing principle for data entry and retrieval. In each record management section, the user may create and edit one or more specific types of records, may search for records using a Search tool customized for that record type, and may save the records as a working list.

The current record types include: Elements, Element Groups, Element Occurrences, Source Features, Managed Areas, Conservation Sites, Scientific Names, References, Higher Classification and Working Lists. Other record types utilized in Biotics 4 will be included in subsequent releases of Biotics 5.

A record type is selected by choosing it from the Record Management menu from the top of the page or from the main Biotics 5 menu. The working list view for the selected record type will open on the same section. To switch to a different record management type, select it from the Record Management menu.
